WEBSITE POLICIES

Privacy

This a public, local government site and as such we make town documents available as required by law. We do not sell or exchange email addresses with other parties or use them to send unsolicited emails of any sort. We make use of cookies, as indicated below; we have no control over privacy issues related to linked sites; we do not collect personally identifiable data.

Cookies

This site uses cookies for tracking visited webpages. The info is used to help refine navigation and to see what pages are of the most use and interest. The information collected consists of browser type, screen resolution, IP address, and other non-personal information. We cannot tell who you are, where you live, what other sites you visit. You can disable cookie-use altogether in your browser settings, or tell your browser to give you the option to accept or reject cookies from a site when it attempts to set one. Also see “3rd-Party Sites” below.

Email Addresses

We do not sell, share, or otherwise disseminate email addresses. If, in the future, we establish a mail-list option, it will be permission-based, by subscription, with a verification required (also known as “double opt-in”). Addresses will not be added without express permission.

News-Blog Page

Comments left on the news-blog page require that you leave personal contact info. This is in order to prevent blog spamming. Your identity on the page is under your control—you can specify how your comment or post is identified (by initials, first name, screen-name, full name, etc), but you cannot post unless we can verify who you are. This personal info is not shared.

3rd-Party Websites

Many links on this site go to 3rd-party sites over which we exercise no control. Some of this site’s features or functions may be available through 3rd-party hosting services (e.g. the News-blog is hosted by WordPress.com), over whom we have no control. Your privacy is governed by the privacy policies of those sites, not this site. When a feature or function hosted by a 3rd-party site is considered for use on this website, careful consideration is given to that site’s privacy policies and the quality of its reputation. However, no guarantees can be made about what information they collect or how they use it.

3rd-party services used by this site may include: WordPress.com, ClickTraks Analyzer (analyzes raw server logs), VisitorVille (tracks page visits via javascript code on the page), Google Analytics (a javascript page tracker), and DreamHost (maintains server logs).
